The Building
Bwthyn Bach is a beautiful building with all sorts of interesting old architectural features. The sense of history is very much part of the atmosphere of the house and adds hugely to the experience of staying here. Wooden beams, cobbled floors, wattle and daub walls are visible and it has a central inglenook fireplace which provides a delightful, cosy and sociable spot to spend the evening.

Bedroom 2 (family room)
The accommodation is rustic and the furnishings basic, but we feel this is a large part of Bwthyn Bach’s charm, and because it is very traditional and a little rough around the edges it’s a total escape from modern life.
There are five bedrooms, which are a mixture of single, family and dormitory style rooms sleeping up to 17 people in total. While it is possible to book sole occupancy of Bwthyn Bach, it would usually be available on a hostel basis.
There is a garden with two level lawns at different heights, that are suitable for playing and pitching small tents for larger groups.
In common with most bunkhouses, there is no bedding provided at Bwthyn Bach so you will need to bring everything including pillows. All doubles are standard size (190cm x 135cm).

The kitchen
Bedroom 1 (dormitory-style)
The kitchen has an electric cooker and oven, a microwave, toaster and electric kettle. Hot water for washing up is provided from a wall-mounted heater, that needs to be switched on manually. The kitchen also has a wood-fuelled Rayburn, that is very easy to light and provides considerable warmth for that end of the house. There is a good, basic range of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils provided that has been accumulated over the years from family and friends. There is a table in the kitchen, suitable for family meals and a larger table in the main downstairs room, suitable for larger groups to eat together,
There is a main bathroom with an electric shower, wash basin and WC; a smaller washroom with a wash basin and WC and a downstairs WC.
There is an open inglenook fireplace in the main central room on the ground floor and an iron range fireplace in the third downstairs room. Both work well and provide some great, cosy moments and memories!
Please bear in mind that there is no central heating and the house can be cold, so please bring warm clothes and bedding with you. There is also no TV or Wi-fi!
It’s worth noting that it’s fine to unload from cars outside the house, but they then need to be parked behind the nearby Methodist Chapel.
